I am very happy to see we are in agreement about The Do It Yourself World being one of the most deceitful e-beggars on YouTube.

It is time that we shine the light on this snake...

1 - The new 'campaign' of selling shirts is fare enough, but this matter of a donate button is extremely disturbing. I do not have a PayPal account, so I ask those that do, to help me understand how a non-registered charity is allowed to have a donate collection button.

2 - Is it legal according to the youtube terms to outright ask for money donations that will only benefit him personally. I interpret his cry for money to pay for a USA fiancee visa application, and pay for a new wardrobe of clothing for the Filipino woman... as straight up begging.

3 - I read on the YouTube community terms...

Troy Reid, truely a Legend in in his own mind! Biggest issue with Troy Reid is that he has the ability to lure and captivate these followers who believe he can do no wrong. Reading their responses and continuous support to accusations and the obvious lies he throws out to the public, I find simply amazing. He is going to be a tough nut to crack, but I am certainly game. This latest chapter with poor Melanie amazes me (unless she is a willing party to this scam and not a victim to be ) . To bring some woman here to the USA and not even have the funds to make it happen, ASTOUNDING. He cant afford to support himself from month o month, ho will he support another person. Can't you clearly imagine Troy sitting in his LawnChair starting a video "Hi This is Troy with the Off Grid Project" and then in the background Melanie is tossing tortillas back and forth in front of a brick oven. Funny yes, scarey part is it COULD easily happen. And of course, we all know he will want a lil Troyette to bring into the world, what a great fund raiser that would be "LITTLE TROY or TROYANNA NEEDS DIAPERS" I would love to know what this poor and unlucky young lady thinks she is coming to.

To clarify it completely, techman2015 was his ORIGINAL username, before you could change usernames whenever you wanted to. Troy W Reid is his personal name, although there are suspicions he was known by the name Kenneth and it older than age 46 that he purports to be. His birthday is early in the year, I did know exactly. He started the Do It Yourself World years ago, and The Off Grid Project is a smaller sub-branch of that which has now turned into what he spends most of his days doing. Well actually he spends a lot of time frolicking thru shops and doing stuff for his "church". His church has appeared in print media MANY times, and at least once on television. But this is not about his "church". Although I believe they solidly take a 10% cut of all his earnings, and if he can't pay one week he has to pay at some later time. So it is a valid point to mention. He has stabbed TONS of former friends, AND DONATORS in the back. This isn't just a man who wants "new tires for his RV", he has literally asked for all the materials to build his house, and is currently asking for $5000 to bring over his Filipino internet dating site bride. He claims that $3000 is to bring her over and the other $2000 will be to "deck her out". It would cost far less than $2000 to clothe the girl and buy a toothbrush for her. He doesn't even have enough house to store $2000 of clothes in. So I am not sure where the majority of this $2000 is really going to be spent on.

Could someone explain how his subscriber count nearly grows by 100 a day. This can't be actual. Is there some deceitful activity on that part as well ?

I have been watching his subscriber counts for a little over a month now and I have suspicions he is buying subscribers. Over that period of time he has done very little as far as useable video content. Most of his videos are just filler with a splattering of "woe is me" enemy / troll videos. While it is true that stirring up drama has the effect of bringing people in, those viewers usually don't stick around. When he started the whole mail order bride debacle he lost quite a chunk of regular viewers on top of the already dwindling subscriber base.

Since he has returned from the Philippines and making very few videos, and the few that he was making were really bad. He stopped posting videos for 2-3 days straight and even though the video view counts slowed to a crawl I noticed his subscribe base was jumping up by about 30-60 subscribers per day over the period of three days. I can understand spikes in subscribers after posting a good video but this is when he hadn't posted any videos over 3-5 days. Buying subscribers doesn't cost a lot of money so I am pretty sure that is what is happening.

I also think is buying commenters too. Although more expensive I think he buys about 50 or so comments on certain videos.

His t-shirt campaign will be a good tell on just how many REAL supporters he has. with a 70K base and only getting 4-5k video views tells me there is something wrong. Of the 4-5K views a great deal of those counts are happening because people are in and out of the comments all day. To prevent adding to his video view count you need a Flash/HTLM5 video blocker so when you go back to make comments the videos don't start playing. I think this is why Troy is so amendment on getting people to comment. Otherwise his video views would be around 2K or less.

Alan, Link and Seeds the best way to beat Troy is to show people the right way to do it your self and live off grid. You all have grate channels so why don't you join forces and start a new channel that just shows how your setup works and what it powers and encourage others to send videos of there setups.

I don't actually believe in the words Off Grid. I believe you can create a lifestyle and sustain yourself with food, energy and most things you need. Using the words "Off Grid" seems to be a club, where you are either off grid or not. There was a time when the phrase "off grid" was defined as eliminating the outrageous cost of electric bills, by using technology and your own hands to make your own power and save money. Things have gotten twisted around, and it seems that "off grid" now means that one should run away from civilisation and be out in the middle of nowhere with fences around our propery to shut out the world. I like NOT getting electric bills, and admire our technical advances to do so.

There are a lot of skilled individuals that are documenting their progress of "living a less commercial" lifestyle on YouTube, but the Do It Yourself World seems to be popular because of the "Dramma" he creates, not because he wants share and learn with others with common interests.., he is self-centred and only cares about one thing... How to get a free ride.

We do and can make well detailed video's explaining solar power systems, or how to use hydroponics to grow a lot of food in a small area, but that will not interest or open the eyes of the "gullible" that flock to the demented intentions of Troy Reid.

There are still many facts we need to put together, to stop the DIY World e-begging.

1- is it legal to have a PayPal "donate" button if you are not a registered charity or nonprofit business.

2 - we need to begin a list of the video links where he straight out asks for money or items.

3 - although we already know he's fiancée visa application (for a woman he has only seen for a week of his life) will be denied. Is there a USA contact to alert the USA immigration of his "campaign" for cash to pay for the application fee. That must be a red flag for the USA government that is so dedicated to stand up for "human rights & Justice".

4 - as he is now uploading video's stating that the tar paper shack will soon have 2 occupants, is there any actual New York State office that can be contacted to get evidence of the actual building permits and the certificate of occupancy of the tar paper shack... If we can get certification that it is not legally live there, then we need to shove that in the face of the gullible followers to show he is a fake !

Who here can help gather actual proof of facts. We need documented proof of facts... The time of guessing has passed !!!

Conman Troy Reid has only sold t shirts to 22 people-34 shirts total. That is far far less than 1% of his 70,000 subs. About 3.5 shirts a day. I wonder if the booster campaign would shut him down?

I looked in the FAQ's. They take a 5.99% fee after the tshirt/printing and shipping fees. The person "begging for money" sets the price of the tshirt. Of course tr chose the highest recommended starting price. Yep, they are ugly tshirts!

RE: Troy Ried YouTube beggar ! All these little money scams he does all the time could be reported to the IRS. there has to be some kind of paper trail showing how he can afford to fly over seas but not be able to fix a fence. I also can not believe the county he lives in has not come out and inspected that so called tiny house. I do wonder how many complaints of fraud and deceit are reported to YouTube and why they have not done anything about it. I know Doc is tired of it and even made a new channel. I also agree that he has to be purchasing views. after talking with youtube viewbot is a program they use to track that.
